What is a “skill”?

A skill is a structured, reusable tool extracted from a YouTube video. It captures the creator’s methodology — principles, workflow, inputs, examples, and pitfalls — in a format any AI can execute. Not a summary. Not a transcript. A tool your AI can run against your situation.

Which YouTube videos work with SkillForge?

Any YouTube video with a transcript. Most videos have auto-generated captions. Videos without captions (rare) or music-only content will not produce useful skills.

How is this different from a summary or transcript?

Summaries tell you what was said. Transcripts give you the raw words. A skill gives your AI something it can do. It includes structured inputs, a step-by-step workflow, decision criteria, examples, and common pitfalls — all formatted so an AI can apply the methodology to your specific situation.

What export formats are available?

Four formats, all included on every plan:

• Claude Project — one-click add to your Claude Projects library
• Custom GPT — auto-configured for ChatGPT
• SKILL.md — Anthropic-format markdown file for Claude Code, Cursor, or any tool that reads project files
• System Prompt — raw text you can paste into any LLM

How many free skills do I get?

Free accounts get 3 forged skills per month. Upgrade to Creator ($19.99/mo) for unlimited forges and a private skill library.

Can I make my skills public?

Yes. You can toggle any skill to public from your dashboard. Public skills appear in the public skill library and are indexed by search engines.

The FORGE SKILL button does not appear on YouTube

You don't need the Chrome extension to forge skills. Paste any YouTube URL directly into the forge bar on your dashboard. If you do use the extension:

• Make sure you are on a YouTube video page (youtube.com/watch?v=...).
• Check that the SkillForge extension is enabled in chrome://extensions.
• Try refreshing the page. YouTube is a single-page app, and navigation between videos can occasionally require a refresh.
• If the button still does not appear, disable other YouTube extensions temporarily to check for conflicts.

Forging fails or takes too long

• The video may not have a transcript available. Check if captions are enabled on the video.
• Very long videos (2+ hours) take longer to process. Most forges complete in under 60 seconds.
• If forging fails repeatedly, try again in a few minutes. Our servers may be under high load.

I cannot sign in or my session expired

• SkillForge uses Google OAuth. Make sure third-party cookies are not blocked for skillforge.digital in your browser settings.
• Clear the extension’s data: right-click the SkillForge icon in your toolbar, select “Options,” and sign in again.

My skill quality is low or inaccurate

• Skills are generated from the video transcript. If the auto-generated captions are poor (heavy accent, technical jargon, multiple speakers), the skill quality may be affected.
• Tutorial-style, methodology-focused, and how-to videos produce the best skills. Vlogs, news commentary, and entertainment content may produce less useful results.

How do I upgrade or downgrade?

Sign in and go to your Billing page. You can upgrade, downgrade, or cancel at any time. Changes take effect at your next billing cycle.

How do I cancel my subscription?

Go to your Billing page and click “Manage subscription.” You can cancel immediately. You will retain access to your plan features until the end of your current billing period.

Do you offer refunds?

If you are unsatisfied within the first 7 days of a paid plan, email us for a full refund. After 7 days, we do not offer partial refunds, but you can cancel anytime.

What data does SkillForge collect?

When you forge a skill, we read the video title, channel name, and transcript from the YouTube page. We store your email for authentication. We do not track your browsing, collect data from other sites, or sell your information. Read the full Privacy Policy.

How do I delete my data?

You can delete any skill from your dashboard. To delete your entire account and all associated data, email cco@skillforge.digital.
